Venue Spotlight: Millbridge Court
As a wedding celebrant, I am so incredibly blessed to be able to visit all sorts of venues. From elegant hotels and barns to English country gardens and orangeries. I’ve seen it all! Most recently, however, I spent the day at the beautiful Millbridge Court, where I officiated the ceremony of the sweetest couple and hosted their day as Master of Ceremonies!
As I was there for the whole day (such a treat when I normally leave a little while after a ceremony), I gained an amazing insight into this pretty little gem of a venue.
So today’s blog post is a venue spotlight all about Millbridge Court, highlighting some of my favourite features as well as giving you an insider’s view into what a wedding day looks like there!
A bit about Millbridge Court
Millbridge Court is an elegantly restored 19th-century home that perches itself just outside of Farnham in the Surrey countryside. Although the rear side has been designed to reflect a modern barn, the front still very much looks like a home. In fact, I actually drove past it the first time I visited, thinking it was somebody’s private house! Whoops!
Nevertheless, it is a stunning piece of architecture with an interior that celebrates the home’s original charm whilst still embracing modern trends.
What types of weddings can you host at Millbridge Court?
Millbridge Court has both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, making it a year-round venue.
During the chillier months, you can get married in the bright ceremony hall in front of its dramatic glass windows that look out upon views of the garden. I love this area and have seen couples decorate it in all sorts of ways. From balloons and candles to cascading flower displays and arches, all of which you can see examples of on their Instagram page.
For summer weddings, there is an intimate ceremony space nestled in the garden. This is where I conducted my ceremony and it was simply magical! The ceremonies take place under an oak arbour which has a whimsical feel, which is made all the more enchanting when decorated with your choice of flowers or foliage.
What’s the vibe like?
As I mentioned before, Millbridge Court was originally a home and therefore that homey feel is very much felt throughout. It just feels cosy and inviting. Also because the layout of the building flows so well, you become acquainted with it very easily, making you feel quite literally “right at home”
In terms of the interior decor, the indoor ceremony space, and banqueting areas are mirror copies of each other. Each boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, making them bright, light, and airy. The neutral colour scheme also provides a blank canvas to express your style. But likewise, is impressive enough if you want to keep flowers and decor to a minimum. The lounge area is warm and cosy with armchairs, plump sofas, and accents of wood as well as a fireplace for those chillier celebrations. It also acts as the perfect snug to curl up in after dessert, ready to come back recharged in time for a night on the dancefloor.
A few of my favourite things
I absolutely adored the team at Millbridge Court. They were just incredible and clearly have wedding coordination down to a fine art. As well as being unflappable and constantly working hard to ensure that every aspect of the day goes off without a hitch, they are just all round lovely ladies. They are the type of coordinators who feel like friends and can put your nerves at ease with the simplest of smiles.
Millbridge Court is also very celebrant friendly! They allowed me to visit a few months prior to the big day so I could make sure everything was set for the ceremony, as well as answer any additional questions via email. This means you will never have to worry about contacting them in regard to the ceremony details yourself. You can leave this all in the trusty hands of your celebrant!
I also just loved how calm and relaxed Millbridge feels. This again, is a testament to how they have embraced the original warmth of the home, rather than stripping it away so it becomes “just a venue”. Which in my opinion is quite rare to find!
Finally the ceremony spaces. I know I’ve mentioned them already, but they simply are beautiful. I love how impactful they are with and without decor, which makes them accessible to all decor budgets. Also, being someone who has nightmares about it raining on my wedding day, having a venue with an excellent Plan B option is a must!
